This report reviews the research literature on people aged 50 and over from an equalities perspective. Drawing on academic, government policy and evaluation evidence, and placing the findings within the overall demographic and policy context, the report focuses on five broad themes: (1) employment; (2) income: earnings, pensions and benefits; (3) education; (4) health; and (5) community life and access to services. Gaps in knowledge and key areas for future research are also identified.
